XMMS stands for X Multimedia System.

It is a Music player. It has a Play List editor and Skins, which allow you to change the players look, so yo can get one that suits your taste. It can play a wide variety of file types including MP3 and OGG plus many many others (with the correct plugins).

As mentioned earlier XMMS can have extra skins to change its look. Look in your favourite Package Managment Software and look for something like xmms-skins, you may need to add the files into xmms if your package manager doesn't do it, which means finding where it put them.
